Questions To Ask In Face To Face Interviews ....

It Can Be A Jungle ...

Questions To Ask In Face To Face Interviews ....

About The Company
- What do you see ahead for your company in the next five years?
- How do you see the future for this industry?
- What do you consider to be your firm's most important assets?
- What can you tell me about your new product or plans for growth?
- How do you rate your competition?

The Position's History
Asking about why the position is vacant can provide insight into the company and the potential for advancement. good questions include:
- What happened to the last person who held this job?
- What were the major strengths and weaknesses of the last person who held this job?
- What types of skills do you NOT already have onboard that you're looking to fill with a new hire?

Questions for the Hiring Manager
Asking about his/her department's staff and their role in the company can help you understand more about the company's culture and hierarchy:
- What is the overall structure of the company and how does your department fit the structure?
- What are the career paths in this department?
- What have been the department's successes in the last couple of years?
- How do you view your group/division/department?

The Job's Responsibilities
To avoid any confusion later on, it pays to gain a solid understanding of the position.
- What would you consider to be the most important aspects of this job?
- What are the skills and attributes you value most for someone being hired for this position?
- Where have successful employees previously in this position progressed to within the company?
- Could you describe a typical day or week in this position? The typical client or customer I would be dealing with?

The Expectations
To determine how and when you will evaluated:
- What are the most immediate challenges of the position that need to be addressed in the first three months?
- What are the performance expectations of this position over the first 12 months?
- How will I be evaluated at ABC company, and how often?

The Next Steps
At the end of the interview, don't forget to ask:
- What are the next steps in the interview process?
- Do you have any concerns or is there anything else that you would like to ask me about that may help position me as a top candidate for this position ....

8 Little Known Tricks for the Job Hunt ….

Flow Like a Waterfall …

8 Little Known Tricks for the Job Hunt ….

• Add a signature line to your outgoing email messages, to remind your friends and contacts that you're on a job search. Much as they love you, it's easy for our friends to forget our day-to-day priorities, including a job search that feels like a life-or-death proposition to you. Add a signature line to your email messages that reminds your friends what you're after.

• Include your LinkedIn profile URL in that signature. You can customize your LinkedIn profile's URL (as soon as you set up a free LinkedIn profile) to something that sounds logical, like www.linkedin.com/in/yourname. Add this to the signature line I recommended a moment ago. Might as well make it easy for people to check out your credentials!

• Use Twitter to keep your fans in the loop. A daily (or even more frequent) Twitter 'tweet' from you keeps your friends and well-wishers abreast of your latest job-search happenings. If you tweet to say "Got an interview at Apple tomorrow morning," then your friends with friends at Apple can jump into the scene and help you out with a side-door connection or referral.

• Make your Facebook page work for you -- not against you. Smart job-seekers fill their Facebook pages with useful and relevant information about what they've accomplished and where their strengths lie. Using Facebook effectively in a job search requires more than just taking down the party-animal photos. Prospective employers are bound to see your online persona, so you may as well make it one that moves the ball forward for you.

• Add a quote to your resume. Got a favorite quote (in writing) from a boss who praised your work? Add it to your resume in place of the tedious "References available on request." Everyone knows your references are available. Tell us (in twenty words or fewer) what one of those people actually said about you -- the more specific the kudos, the better!

• Get a Moo card. Job-search business cards are great tools, because they're easy to pass to a conversational partner at a networking event (no one wants to take your 8.5 x 11 resume in a setting like that). Moo mini-cards are cooler than regular business cards, because they're small and attention-grabbing. If your field is creative, techie, or you just want to stand out a little, order your mini-Moo cards online at moo.com.

• Put a voice on your job-search profile. Too shy to appear on camera? Add an audio file to your LinkedIn, Facebook or other social-networking profile to help job-search targets and influencers get a feel for who you are and how you think. Buy a headset for a few bucks and download Audacity for free to make high-quality audio files. You can even send your podcasts to iTunes and build a following!

• Rewrite your resume so it sounds human. As a careers expert, the biggest job-search stumbling block I see is a boilerplate-laden resume that sounds like every other resume I see. Yank the boilerplate out of your resume and give it a human voice, replacing "results-oriented professional" with "I'm happiest solving thorny technical problems that slow down product development" or whatever (human) statement describes you.

• A job search doesn't leave room for error these days. Details can make all the difference -- better put every tool to work for you now, and put your job search behind you sooner.

The 10 Biggest Interview Killers ...

When you are on a romantic dinner date, you try to avoid "mood killers" i.e talking with a mouth full of food, cursing an ex-lover, or complaining about a foot ailment. During a job interview, you have to avoid similar spoilers if you want to make a good impression.

Here are 10 of the most common "advantage killers" and how you can steer clear of them during your next job interview.

1. Not knowing your goal. Too often candidates think their purpose in an interview is simply to ask for a job. Your goals are to demonstrate how you are a good fit for the organization, and to assess whether the job is really right for you.

2. Being too needy. Neediness is probably the No. 1 advantage-killer in an interview. Remind yourself before walking in the door: you do not need this job. You do need food, you do need air, and you do need water. Keep things in perspective.

3. Lousy nonverbal communication. This is about demonstrating confidence. Your first impression makes the difference. When you enter the interview room, stand up straight, make eye contact, and offer a strong handshake with your interviewer. If necessary, jot their name on your notepad as soon as you seat yourself. Do the same for any other individual you are meeting with.

4. Compromising your position. You should always participate in the interview as an equal, not a subordinate, of the person conducting the interview. Often this is a subtle matter of self-perception, so remind yourself before the interview.

5. Falling into the answers-only rut. An interview is a conversation. Don't just answer their questions. That's why you've prepared stories to highlight your accomplishments, which will be your moments to shine. When you do answer any questions, make sure that you answer immediately and follow up with a question of your own, if at all possible.

6. Rambling. Telling your interviewer more than they need to know could be fatal. Your stories should be 60 to 90 seconds long and they should have a relevant point. Focus, focus, focus. Stick with your rehearsed stories, your research, and the questions you need to ask. Don't fill up the silence with unnecessary talk.

7. Being overly familiar. A good interviewer will be skilled enough to put you at ease within the first 10 minutes of the interview. That doesn't mean that they have become your best friend. Don't let your guard down. You're there to interview them and get answers to your questions. Treat this from start to finish as the professional business meeting that it is.

8. Making incorrect assumptions. Points are not deducted at the interview for asking questions when you don't understand something. Don't guess at what your interviewer means. Effective interviewing is all about collecting information in real time, taking good notes, and responding only to the actual facts you've collected. If you find yourself making assumptions or guessing about something that was said, stop and ask for clarification before you answer.

9. Getting emotional. At times the interviewer may hit a nerve or consciously try to provoke you into an "outburst." Don't fall for it. Clear your mind of any fears or expectations, so you can maintain a calm, open-minded perspective at all times. When emotions enter into an interview, failure follows.

10. Not asking specific questions. You want to find out more about what this job is really about and whether you want it. Arrive with a list of several prepared questions about the company, the position, and the people who work there. Ask questions that begin with "what," "how," and "why." Avoid simple yes/no questions. Get your interviewer talking as much as possible, then take notes. Most interviewers are unimpressed by someone who has no questions.

The Positive Impact of the Stimulus ...

The Positive Impact of the Stimulus ...

The stock market is moving upward, consumer confidence is on the rise, banks and financial institutions are about to return TARP money and are hiring again, plus the stimulus package is on cusp of pouring into states.

States on the average are seeing a 10% tax revenue loss where they normally see 2% tax growth per year.

Bank of America (885 jobs), U.S. Bank (963 jobs), and Wells Fargo (981 jobs) alone have over 2000 jobs listed on their career sites, which is another good sign.

Click to link to Careers Centers …

Tip - The key when applying for a job is personalization and effort for each and every introduction. Introductions should cover your background, highlights, and reason for connecting. Focus on specific ways you can help the potential employers.

College Graduates

2009 College Graduates

Is the glass half full or half empty. Over 91% of the people of the workforce in the United States are employed (8.9% are unemployed). If you listen to nightly news you would think half the workforce is unemployed. Companies are hiring, however they are very selective.

Monster, CareerBuilder, Hotjobs, And Dice all have sections for Recent Graduates listing jobs.

Cities where companies are Hiring Now: Austin TX, Seattle, WA, Houston TX (job growth 2.3% this year), Washington DC, Portsmouth NH (unemployment rate 3.9%) , Des Moines, IA .

These cities have less than half the national average unemployment rate.

Recent graduates might want to consider International Opportunities i.e. British Columbia, Canada with unemployment 4.8% job growth 1.5%, Mumbai, India , Shanghai, China are two other top growth cities with projected high growth in 2009, plus the added bonus of 30-40% higher salaries above U.S. based salary.

Recent Grads should also check this site …
http://www.collegegrad.com/

Note - 8.9% unemployment figure was obtained from an official U.S. Government website site. The truth is out there, unfortunately 8.9% isn't it. Still there are a lot of people working somewhere between 85% to 90% of the U.S. workforce is currently employed. Don't believe it, well check the freeways and main roads used for commute during peak rush hours. Bumper to bumper with traffic.

Like High End Cars … Tampa Bay is Great Viewing …

Jaguars, Maserati's, BMW's, Mercedes, Lincoln's, Land Rovers, Hybrids, Lamborghini, Cadillac Escalades, Hummers, High End SUV’s, Lexus LS, Audi S8, Porsche Cayenne, Lotus, Koenigsegg, Bugatti, Ferrari's, Rolls-Royce, Bentley's and more ...

None of these dealerships are going out of business. They're Hiring !!!

Who are the big spenders who drop $10,000 on a dress and $350,000 on a car?

Many Fortune 1000, CEO's, CFO's, VP's, Company Presidents, Entertainers & TV Personalities, Professional Sports Figures, Team Owners, Agents, Current & Retired Top Government & Military Officials, Owners, CEO's of $10 Million plus businesses, even Hedge Fund Managers, and successful professionals i.e. doctors, lawyers, and more ...

Many move to Tampa Bay for the lifestyle and started businesses made big money elsewhere but weren't ready to retire.

While it's not quite Palm Beach or Beverly Hills just yet, Tampa Bay is making a mark as a luxury market, and collecting the critical mass of wealthy residents that attracts purveyors of luxury goods and services, and they're coming to Tampa Bay in droves.

Florida and California really deliver luxury, but Florida is closer to Europe and the Caribbean where the wealthy like to travel and Florida has that strong business-minded approach.

The Tampa Bay area has over 85,000 millionaires.

Plus the super affluent make up 5 percent of households in Tampa Bay's two major counties (Hillsborough and Pinellas), but are 10 percent or more in the zips codes that include neighborhoods such as Avila, Lutz, Palma Ceia, Davis Islands, Westchase, Cheval and Tierra Verde.

That doesn’t include the hidden job market …

Warm Friendly People With Jobs ...

In the Tampa Bay Area of Florida you may find people will strike up conversations with you anywhere and at any time! Weather your at a grocery store, a coffee shop, a convenience store, pumping gas or even stopped at a red light, it’s not uncommon for someone to say hi and ask how you’re doing today. If you like warm friendly people that welcome new people, Tampa could be the place for you.

It is difficult to narrow down a specific story about friendly encounters, because most are common around Tampa Bay. Recently, a friend told me she had a flat tire and while she was on the phone calling for service, a kind man pulled over and changed her tire quickly, refused her offer of payment, and tipped his hat, wishing her a good day.

I think you will find acts of kindness are common in Tampa …
